Easy Oreo Dump Cake Recipe

Ingredients Needed for Oreo Dump Cake

To make your very own Oreo Dump Cake, here’s what you’ll need:

IngredientAmountNotes
Oreo cookies1 package (14.3 oz)Crushed
Cake mix (vanilla or yellow)1 box (15.25 oz)Any flavor cake mix works
Butter (melted)1/2 cupMelted
Sweetened condensed milk1 can (14 oz)Essential for the gooey texture

Instructions: How to Make Oreo Dump Cake

  1. Preheat Your Oven
Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). While it heats up, you can start preparing the ingredients.
  2. Crush the Oreos
Take your package of Oreo cookies and crush them into rough pieces. You can do this by placing the cookies in a plastic bag and gently smashing them with a rolling pin, or you can crush them by hand. The texture doesn’t need to be uniform—some larger chunks will add extra crunch.
  3. Layer the Crushed Oreos
Spread the crushed Oreos evenly in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. You want the Oreos to form a nice base layer for the dessert.
  4. Add the Sweetened Condensed Milk
Pour the sweetened condensed milk evenly over the crushed Oreos. This will create a rich, gooey layer that binds everything together and adds sweetness.
  5. Top with Cake Mix
Now, open your box of cake mix and spread it evenly on top of the condensed milk layer. Do not mix the cake mix with the other ingredients. Just sprinkle it on top—this will give your Oreo Dump Cake its signature texture.
  6. Drizzle with Melted Butter
Finally, drizzle the melted butter evenly over the cake mix. This will create a golden, crisp top as it bakes.
  7. Bake and Enjoy
Place the dish in the oven and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly. The cake should have a slight crispy texture on top, while the center remains gooey and delicious.
  8. Serve and Savor
Let your Oreo Dump Cake cool slightly before serving. For an extra indulgent treat, serve it warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream. Enjoy!

Tips for the Best Oreo Dump Cake

If you want to make your Oreo Dump Cake even better, here are a few tips to help you elevate this already amazing dessert:

Choosing the Right Cake Mix

While the traditional Oreo Dump Cake recipe calls for a vanilla or yellow cake mix, feel free to get creative. You could use a chocolate cake mix for a more decadent, double-chocolate dessert, or even a strawberry cake mix for a fruity twist. Just remember that the flavor of the cake mix will influence the overall taste of the dessert, so pick one that complements the Oreos.

Add-Ins to Try

If you’re looking to add more depth of flavor or texture to your Oreo Dump Cake, consider adding some mix-ins. Here are a few options:

  • Chocolate Chips: Add semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips for an extra chocolatey experience.
  • Peanut Butter: Swirl in some peanut butter for a nutty twist.
  • Cream Cheese: Add a layer of cream cheese to the mix for a tangy, rich flavor that contrasts beautifully with the sweetness.

Don’t Overmix

One of the keys to making a perfect Oreo Dump Cake is to resist the urge to mix the ingredients. The layers should remain distinct, and mixing them can lead to a less-than-ideal texture. Just layer everything, and let the oven do the rest of the work.

My review

The first time made this I forgot to use the whipped topping and did not spray the pan. I followed a different recipe. I just made it again and this time I chopped up the oreos on the bottom of the pan using a food processor – probably did about 40 cookies. I also used regular butter and not the salted. Just found this recipie after putting it in the oven to bake. This time I did spray the pan and hope it will be easier to remove from the pan. Will rate it after we try this one..
